DOS AND DONT’S OF A FLOWER CAP

In honor of the fact that I think that it really should be spring by now, here is a little bit of spring on your head, our Painted Posies Madcapz.  And some advice on how to wear it.

Do wear this woman’s baseball cap to picnics.

Don’t wear it in places where spring is still very far away, the locals may attack you.

Do wear this fun woman’s fashion accessory on hikes through the woods.

Don’t wear it while planting flowers; this will result in bad jokes about how you should plant yourself.

Do wear it when you need to add a little bit of fun to your outfit.

Don’t wear it to a sunflower themed party; it is not the right flower.

Do wear it anywhere that needs a little touch of spring.

Any other dos and don’ts of wearing Madcapz?  Are you ready for spring or enjoying the last few weeks of winter?

Fashion Week: Ralph Lauren’s Top Hats

TOP HATS ON BASEBALL PLAYERS?

I know that this blog has lately been mostly about New York’s Fashion Week, and I apologize if you don’t like New York or Fashion or things called Week that are actually two, but it’s over now, and this is (most likely) the last article I’ll post on it (until next fashion week).

Anyway, Ralph Lauren sent his models down the runway in top hats to the soundtrack of Downtown Abbey. This made me wonder, firstly, if I had accidentally moved to England, and secondly, what life would be like if we had top hats instead of baseball caps.

Imagine, if instead of baseball caps, baseball teams played in top hats with their team colors, to fans also wearing top hats.  They might have to redo the bleachers so that people could see over the person in front of them’s ridiculously high fashion accessory.

Instead of golf visors, Tiger Woods won the game in a golf top hat.  Instead of throwing a woman’s baseball cap in our bag, we threw in a top hat. We would probably need a bigger bag. And I’m not sure if top hats really block the sun.

We would all look pretty ridiculous.  So, let’s be glad we have baseball caps

Fashion Week Update: The Importance of Hats

February 17th, 2012  / Author: madcapz

YOU’RE NEVER FULLY DRESSED WITHOUT A…HAT

Whether its Marc Jacob’s giant wool hats for his pilgrim inspired collection or Donna Karen’s miniature fedoras, hats appear to be a large part of the collection on the runways this Fashion Week.

Click here for more information on the collections: FASHION WEEK

Sometimes hats are the outfit, the first place the eye looks, the statement. Sometimes they are simply an accent, completing the outfit, but subtlety.

Madcapz has a hat for you, no matter what look you’re going for, a statement or a subtle accent.

And remember, that no matter where you’re going, you’re never fully dressed until you put on that woman’s baseball cap.

So what kind of hats do you prefer, ones that are jaw dropping (check out Animal Safari Madcapz) or more casual (check out Not Quite White Madcapz)?

TOP 5 REASONS TO WEAR OUR OLIVE & TWIST MADCAPZ

Here is a Madcapz 007 himself would enjoy: our Olive & Twist Madcapz and the top 5 reasons to wear this woman’s baseball cap:

1. You miss the Mad Man era three martini lunches, but need a sober way to enjoy the drinks

2. Your friends hold an annual scrimmage between team martini and team margarita, and you need a team uniform

3. You’re dressing up as James Bond but hate the taste of martinis.

4. You have a crippling fear of talking to bar tenders and would prefer to just point at your martini hat to place your order

5. You’re buying a ladies golf cap for your friend Olive, and we don’t have one with just the fruit.

Where do you see yourself wearing the Olive & Twist Madcapz?  Any other drinks you would like to see on our hats?

Fun Fashion Accessories

HAPPY MONDAY

It’s fashion week here in New York.  And this means that shocking/beautiful/outrageous/things-no-one- will-actually-wear clothing tends to appear in the streets (or more accurately, on the runway.)

And with these pieces comes the fun fashion accessories.  And so far this headdress from the Moulin Rouge is my favorite:

Fashion week always makes me smile.  As do the quickly following magazine articles entitled fashion week’s most wearable trends. Because, let’s face it, simple tasks, like picking something off the floor, become somewhat impossible tasks while wearing a headdress.

For more information on the designer in the photo click on the photo above.

Do you like fashion week, hate it or not really care? Any trends from the runways you’d like to see on Madcapz?

Golf Visors and Golfers in the Woman’s Australian Open

February 10th, 2012  / Author: madcapz

LUCKY CAPZ

I know that here at Madcapz, we don’t talk so much about actual golf tournaments, but in honor of the fact that an American, Stacy Lewis, is currently tied for first at the Australian Open, I’m embracing my patriotism and unabashedly rooting for her (plus there are photos of her in a pink hat so I suspect that we are kindred spirits).

Click here for more information on the Woman’s Australian Open

I wonder how she feels about her hats or her clothes in general.  I mean, I’m guessing that golf visors mainly serves to protect your eyes and your face from the sun, and that sponsors may dictate which hats you wear.  Functionality and appropriateness are probably the biggest factors in clothing decisions.  However, this still leaves some choice, or else all golfers would look the same.   Does Stacy Lewis have a lucky golf cap or an unlucky shirt?  I think that she should wear any lucky clothing she might have, so she can outright win the tournament.

Do you have a lucky golf cap?  How do you choose what you wear on the course?

Hat of the Week: Polka Dot Pink Hat

February 8th, 2012  / Author: madcapz

POLKA DOTTED WEDNESDAYS

It’s Wenedsday and I’m in a polka dots mood.  And a pink mood.  I think it might be an attempt to push myself through the week by being super upbeat  on a Wednesday (maybe Mean Girls was on to something with the line “on Wednesdays we wear pink”).

To me, a polka dot hat is the ultimate fun woman’s hat.  Wednesdays are the ultimate not fun day.  Yes you survived Monday and Tuesday but you still have Thursday and Friday.  And you haven’t quite gotten through Wednesday yet.

So might I suggest along with you venti double shot caramel latte (or coffee black, whatever works for you), grab a polka dot hat, and enjoy your Wednesday.

You’re on your own for Thursday.

What’s your least favorite day of the week?  What hat would you choose to get you through a blah day?

Woman’s Hats News: Kate Middleton Named Hat Person of the Year

February 6th, 2012  / Author: madcapz

PRINCESS NAMED QUEEN OF HATS

Did you know that there was a “Hat Person of the Year”?

No, me neither.

Well, there is, and Princess Kate Middleton has been named queen of women’s hats. Personally, I think that everyone in attendance at the royal wedding should have collectively been named “Hat people of the year.” I think it was a group effort that made anyone take notice of Kate’s wonderful fashion accessories.  So, let’s give credit where credits due and democratize the Hat awards.

Click Hat Person of the Year for more info or click on the photo below:

I do like Kate’s hat.  Not in an I would actually wear it sort of way, but in it’s an impressive that you can pull that off sort of way.  (For a red cap you can definitely pull off check out Abbie Madcapz).  Here at Madcapz, we strive to make fun women’s hats, so I think that the award should be given to the woman who has the most fun wearing the hats.  How we would measure that, I’m not sure, but I think “person who enjoys hats the most” is an award I could get behind.

So what do you think?  Is Kate Middleton worthy of such a title?  Who would you rather see crowned?

What I Want For My Madcapz

Tales of the Magic Happiness Hat

I would like my women’s caps to make you happy.  I understand that they are women’s baseball caps, essentially things you wear on your head, not a magic happiness token (although with the Harry Potter series over, perhaps the world is ready for the Tales of the Magic Happiness Hat).  But still, I think caps can make you happy.  If just for a second.  When you get it as a gift.  When you put it on.  When you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror wearing the cap.

Many of the women who wear caps are suffering from hair loss, due to chemotherapy, alopecia, grave’s disease (like myself), or other medical reasons.  I know my own story, I won’t claim to know yours.  I would like for my caps to make you feel just a little bit better about it.

So let’s begin the Tales of the Magic Happiness Hat.  Is there someone in your life who could use a moment of happiness? Scroll through our Madcapz and see if there’s one that would do that. And let us know if there’s something we can do to make you happy.

Valentine’s Day Gifts For Golfers

It’s almost February, so you know what that means…LEAP YEAR DAY!  Yes, I know that’s not really a thing, and this post is obviously going to be about Valentine’s Day, but I think you should buy all of your loved ones Leap Year gifts, claim you do it every four years year, and then act really hurt when they don’t have anything for you.

But I digress.  We’re talking about Valentine’s Day and possibly golf.

I think of myself as being pretty good at giving gifts. I listen to what people are interested in and try to get them something that at least tangentially has to do with the their hobbies. And for those relatives who don’t really seem to be on the family tree and only show up for gift giving holidays, I am a big fan of gift cards.

Maybe you’re good at giving gifts.  Or maybe you’re not.  Either way , if your significant other (or mother, or sister, or friend, or whoever your Valentine is this year)is a golfer, consider yourself lucky, at least you have a jumping off point.  However,  you may be at the point in your relationship where you have given every book on golfing, scoured the earth for every golf themed piece of jewelry, and tried really hard to find heart-shaped golf ball until you realized that that just wouldn’t work as balls have to be circular.

So to help you in your search for the perfect Valentine’s Day Golf gift, please look through our Women’s Golf Caps.  We have lots of fun pink caps for Valentine ’s Day!

Tell us about your Valentine’s Day plans.  Do they involve golf or the more traditional dinner rout?
