TAKE OFF OUR MADCAPZ?

While stumbling around the internet, I found an interesting article in the Huffington Post on hat etiquette: Hat Etiquette

Hat etiquette is not something that I think about a lot.  I think that our woman’s baseball caps should be worn at all times.  By all women.   All the time.

No, this isn’t technically true, I know that you must at some point take of your baseball hat (when sleeping or scuba diving), but you get the idea. However, hat etiquette these days focusses mostly on when to remove your hats.  According to the article, it is appropriate to take off your hat during the national anthem, formal occasions or indoors (though apparently not in elevators).

Anyway, the thing about the article on hat etiquette that really got me thinking was the end where it said that women when wearing hats typically worn by men should follow the same rules as men, while “ladies hats” could be worn at all times. Among the list of hats typically worn by men was the baseball cap.  We sell women’s baseball caps

Yes, I know that common sense dictates that we should remove our Madcapz when indoors or at formal occasions.  But I did wonder where we would be grouped in this discussion of hat etiquette, as we don’t sell your run of the mill baseball caps.

Do you follow the rules of hat etiquette?  Do you think that baseball caps should be listed as typically male hats?

Women’s Hats At The Kentucky Derby

With the Kentucky Derby just a couple of weeks away, hats and fashion are on everyone’s mind. The Kentucky Derby is not only famous for its horse racing but also for the women’s hats worn by those in attendance. Designer Betsey Johnson has created three new ladies hats that will be unveiled at the Kentucky Derby.

The three women’s hats, as she describes them, are the Barbie hat (a fun hat), the Rose hat (featuring quirky bugs and spiders) and the Cleopatra-meets-Scarlett hat (has a pink wig). The hats were made to benefit the Breast Cancer Coalition and Gilda’s Club of Louisville.

Check these fun women’s hats out and read more about them here:

We will be wearing our Madcapz fun women’s hats as we watch the Kentucky Derby, what about you?

What’s this Blog About?

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Part of the reason I decided to relaunch my website, www.madcapz.net, is because I want to blog about topics that Madcapz customers have told me they are interested in reading about.  So, moving forward I will be blogging about the following:

  • Women’s Golf - so many of our customers are women golfers who love Madcapz fun unique women’s golf headwear,  and because I am learning the game, I will be writing posts related to women’s golf.

Fashion Accessories - Madcapz are, after all, fun fabulous fashion accessories, I will be writing posts related to fashion accessories.

Women With Hair Loss - many of our customers are women who are undergoing chemo, have alopecia, or other medical conditions; and many of our MADCAPZ are purchased as gifts for women who are experiencing hair loss, so I will be writing on this topic.

Running A Woman’s Owned Business - and since I am running my own business, I will be sharing some of my ups and downs as they happen!

I am beginning my blog in October and I am proud to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating 20% of all sales to www.breastcancer.org, a wonderful organization that provides reliable and up-to-date information about breast cancer. They help women make sense of the complex medical and personal information about breast cancer, so they can make the best decisions for their lives.

For every MADCAPZ you purchase during the month of October, 20% will go directly to www.breastcancer.org. What a great way to give back!
