BEAT BACK THE WINTER BLUES WITH MADCAPZ

Martini Hat

Snow’s beautiful when it’s falling.  It’s fun the day after it falls, when it’s ideal for sledding, snow ball fights, and an excellent excuse to drink hot chocolate.

On the fourth day, not so much. It’s turned a weird sort of slush/ice hybrid, and is now a gray color that is not found in nature.

Winter is kind of like that.  It’s nice in December, when there’s holiday excitement and hopes of a white Christmas.  It’s not too bad in January.  You spend the first half of the month recovering from December, and the second half of the month just kind of happens.

Then there’s February, where every day feels like a month.  I’m pretty sure it’s the shortest month of the year, because no one could stand another day of it.

So, if you, like me, are suffering from the winter blues, I have several solutions for you, to help you get through February, Madcapz style.

You can try to remember what you like about winter.  Put on a Snowflake Madcapz, and pretend that the hours you spent shoveling were secretly fun.  This woman’s baseball cap will remind you of the excitement of the initial snow fall.

Or you could go the other way and try to imagine yourself into summer.  Grab your Ocean Madcapzand create a little beach in your living room.

Or if, all else fails, wear your Olive and Twist Madcapz martini hat, and remember that February is only 28 days (actual martini optional).

Are you struggling with winter blues or are you still enjoying it?  Were you affected by Nemo?

Hurricane Sandy

STORMS OF ALL KINDS

Today is an interesting day.  The east coast is still recovering from the horrible force of hurricane Sandy.  It’s Halloween. It’s the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Out of the three of these, I’m guessing only one of these is on your mind (and which one that is may depend a fair amount on your geographical location).  However, all three are somewhat on my mind.

Also, I’m kind of wondering which hat to wear.  This may sound a little trivial, but I find that the woman’s baseball cap I choose to wear has a lot to do with my mood, and then continues to affect my mood as I keep wearing it.  I don’t have a hurricane/pumpkin pink MadcapzI feel like I have to choose between the three dominating forces in my life.  But I want to promote breast cancer awareness and contemplate the destruction that the hurricane caused, and still celebrate (however bizarrely) Halloween.

I’ll let you know if I figure out a way to do all three effectively.  Until then, I’m going to eat some candy, and continue to make sure that everyone I love is safe.

Hope you all are ok!

Did the storm affect you? Are you still going to celebrate Halloween?

Mirror Fasts

MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL

I don’t consider myself particularly vain.  I have never been someone who takes hours to get ready. But I must admit I look at myself in every possible reflection.  I laugh when I see people walk by a restaurant I’m in, and see people check themselves out in the window, with the slight embarrassment that I do that to.

I mean, I have to know how my outfit and fashion accessories look, or I couldn’t possibly go out of the house, right?

Well, apparently, some people are going on “mirror fasts” where they abstain from looking at themselves in any reflective surfaces for a set period of time.

Click here to read an article on: MIRROR FASTS

I could tell a couple of lies here.  The first one would be that I would have no problem doing this.  That I could just throw on a woman’s baseball cap and head out the door.  The truth is, is that I would have a huge problem not checking how I looked at least before I left the house.

The second lie I could tell would be that I’m one of those people who need to see how they look before they go out in public.  I put my sweater on backwards and inside out.  I wear tights that have a giant run in them, because instead of throwing them out I simply put them back in my sock drawer.  I spill coffee on my shirt and I don’t even notice.  Without mirrors I would never notice these things.

The truth is, is that these problems could all be solved by looking at the clothes before they go on me, and feeling them with my hands when they do.  Mirrors don’t catch these mistakes as often as I think they do.

And the truth of the matter is that I would probably be happier if I looked in the mirror less, and just trust that my Madcapz was correctly positioned on my head.

What do you guys think of “Mirror fasts?”  Could you do one?

Hat of the Week: Autumn Leaves Madcapz

A LITTLE BIT OF FALL

So it’s raining where I am, so I’m writing about fall.  That may only make sense in my head, but when it’s summer but not beautiful outside, my mind drifts to other seasons. Fall is one my favorite seasons, but I feel like it goes by the fastest of all of them. So I try to put a little fall in my summer.

Here are the Top 5 Reasons to Break out Autumn Leaves Madcapz before the summer is over.

1. Trees look nice in the summer and all, but this woman’s baseball cap can help to remind you of all those beautiful leaf colors when you’re a little sick of green.

2. Sometimes during summer, I want to curl up into a giant sweater, but it’s too hot.  Autumn Leaves Madcapz gives you that sense of coziness without the extra layers.

3. Sometimes you have to wear fall colors, and need a fall baseball cap to go with your outfit.

4. Because the next best thing to jumping into a pile of leaves, is wearing some on your head.

5.  Because Autumn Leaves Madcapz is your favorite Madcapz and you couldn’t possibly leave it in your closet all summer.

What’s your favorite season?  What fall clothes do you miss during summer?
