I created Madcapz when I was losing my hair from Grave’s Disease, an autoimmune disease, and couldn’t find a fun women’s cap to wear to cover my head. Madcapz women’s caps are very popular with women experiencing hair loss from various medical conditions such as chemo, Grave’s, and Alopecia Areata. Recently, there has been some new developments in tracing the genes tied to Alopecia.
Researchers have recently linked 8 genes in the development of Alopecia. Researchers said this discovery “greatly accelerated our ability to think about new drugs for patients with alopecia. It is a huge advantage.”

Ready…aim…
We know runners, tennis players and golfers love Madcapz, but we recently learned that archers do too. Our newest fan, Barbara, sent this photo of her wearing her Dazzling Dahlias Madcapz! Bullseye!

Since I know nothing about the sport, I thought I’d check out the Archery basics.

The Hat Museum of Portland, Oregon. Self-described as America’s Only Hat Museum, the website blurb says it’s:
One of Oregon’s most unusual historic homes [that] has been transformed into Portland’s quirkiest attraction.
The museum is home to over 900 hats: vintage hats, women’s hats, men’s hats, novelty hats, and more!

Shop Smart conducted a poll of over 1,000 women about their hair, and according to a Chicago SunTimes article, here are some results of that poll:
- 1/4 of women have cried over a bad hair cut,
- on average women wash their hair 4 times a week,
- 44% say their mood is worse when their hair doesn’t behave!
You can read more about the poll in the Chicago Sun Times article.
Hmm…maybe these women need to know about Madcapz!

People often ask me how I started my company and to be honest, if someone had told me that I would be a small business owner manufacturing women’s baseball caps at this stage of my life, I’m not sure I would have believed her.
But Madcapz arose from a need I had that couldn’t be filled. I was a stay at home to my two great kids when I was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease, an autoimmune disorder that affects your thyroid, which in turn affects every aspect of you. I was very selfconscious about my hair loss (a symptom of Grave’s Disease), so I wanted to wear a cap when I went out. I love the comfortable fit of baseball caps but wanted one that was feminine, fun, and colorful. I wanted a women’s baseball cap to wear that would make me feel great and look fabulous! I scoured the malls, catalogs, and online sites, and couldn’t find what I was looking for, so decided to make them myself.
And that is how Madcapz was created!
